Not a child and not a Goddess

Girl - I am not feeling good. I am low and irritated and snappy and I feel I am not looking good today.
Boy - Oh! That's why you didn't go to work today?!
Girl - Yeah.. You got that right, I am looking ugly today. I don't like it at all.
Boy - That's okay, sweetheart. Even you can't look beautiful all the times. It's okay to look bad sometimes. Some days you look good, some days you don't. It happens.

*sigh*

Is it not nice to be treated like an adult. As an equal. Ask me. It is a relief. To know that it's alright. Alright for you to be scared of losing something. And that even if you do, it'll be alright.
There could've been two different ways the conversation could have gone other than the aforementioned.
One could've been when the boy tries to tell her that she still is pretty. Despite everything, she still is. Put her up on a pedestal. What a farce. Yet the girl smiles. She likes the compliments. Knowing very well that he's fibbing. If it did make her feel good, then, later a doubt creeps in. Does he always fib when he praises me?

On the other hand, the boy could have convinced her that he would love her, no matter what. However she looks. That looks don't matter. She smiles. The objective achieved. But she's no kid. Is she? She knows the importance of each and every aspect of her own self. Then who is the boy kidding, anyway? Not himself for sure. Would his neck not turn every time a pretty young thing walks past them. Even with her hand in his own? And would she not know that it did?!

The only way to deal, is to strike a balance. It might hurt just a little bit, but it'll be easier. To tell her, that's is alright. It's only human. And that the only way is, to deal with it. And accept it. That she is an adult. And an equal.
Not a child and not a Goddess.
